In Memory of Carol Ann Bagwell

April 16, 1948   -   May 21, 2020
Born in Huntington, West Virginia, Carol was a daughter of Freda Ray Thomas and the late Roy Junior Thomas.  She was preceded in death by her brothers Roy and Fredrick Thomas.
She is survived by her daughters (Karen Diane Wright, and Deanna Bagwell Comalander),  son  (Gerald Bagwell), six grand children (Tabitha, Scott, Alyssa, Megan, Lynsey, and Bryant)  six great grandchildren (Dalton, Gracie, Kierstn, Tinley, Eowyn, Lander).  Her brother (Joseph Thomas), and four sisters (Deana Griggs, Rosie Brooks, Donna Ramsey, Ronda Pulsifer).
Her battle with Ocular Melanoma lasted several years and involved the removal of her right eye, removal of a section of her liver, and numerous chemotherapy and radio chemistry treatments.
Throughout all of these battles she never gave up, attending Winthrop University and graduating in year 2016 with a BS in Computer Technology and Digital Information Design.  Always willing to help others she joyfully donated her time and talents to design web sites for struggling small businesses.  In addition she had studied Sign Language and volunteered to help the deaf communicate in business and legal circumstances.  Her “bucket List” included a means to help other patients fighting this cancer by raising funds to assist OM patients in travel expenses to clinics specializing in treatments and trials.  One month prior to her passing to be with her Savior, the fundraiser “Bunny Hop 5K Walk” was completed resulting in a $6,000 donation to the Ocular Melanoma Foundation.  The following was posted over her home work desk to give her the strength to carry on to the completion of the Bunny Hop 5K:  â€œThen I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” ISAIAH 6:8

Ocular Melanoma is a rare disease.  Therefore funding for research to find a cure is very limited at this time.
