NOVEMBER 18, 1960 â€“ AUGUST 11, 2018

Stephen, age 57 of Fort Lauderdale, passed away in the comfort of his home on Saturday, August 11, 2018.  At the time of his passing he was in the hearts of those he loved the most. Stephen is survived by his husband, Victor A. Campos Ortiz; his mother, Barbara Rasner Roach; his sister and brother-in-law, Shawn Burks and Michael Valdes; his niece, Nicole Garubo.

With much sorrow we mark the passing of Stephen Burks, after a 3 year battle with Ocular Melanoma.   He will be missed by many friends and colleagues, Stephen blurring the line between the two.  Always with the time and consideration to help where he could, Stephen’s perspective on life was an example, and as many have put forth in the last few days, “made us all better at what we do and who we are.” Stephen was passionate, kind, and loyally committed to friends and family.
Stephen participated in many clinical trials in New York and Ft Lauderdale, supporting OM cancer research was important to him and he hoped to see the day they found a cure.
