In Loving Memory of Scott Manchee

Scott Terrence Manchee, 68, formerly of Juneau, Alaska, passed away on September 12, 2024, in Las Vegas.

Born on May 6, 1956, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Charles Edward Manchee and Leona Evelyn Wescott Manchee, Scott lived a life defined by curiosity, adventure, and an unbreakable love for his family. A dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend, he spent his career on the leading edge of emerging information technology, working with institutions like WestStar Credit Union, Alaska Pacific Bank, and the State of Alaska Department of Revenue. Scott was a trailblazer in cybersecurity, infrastructure development, and policy creation, holding a CISSP certification. From 1993 to 2010, he co-owned Manchee & McLean with his wife, Janice, providing vital computer consulting services and pioneering regional websites like ilovealaska and Juneau dot com, and hosting many of Juneau’s first websites for businesses and non-profits.

Beyond his professional achievements, Scott was a dedicated member of the Glacier Valley Rotary and the Las Vegas Downtown Rotary Club, always delighted to serve his community. He was also a devoted classic car enthusiast, nature lover, and someone who could fix just about anything—sometimes even on purpose. But let’s be real—Scott wasn’t just a tech genius. He was always one to just “go for it”!  He was also the guy who once lived in a big red vintage International bus “out the road” in Juneau, tearing through the streets on hisTriumph motorcycle. He powered through janitorial shifts for state offices before launching into the world of IT, proving that life really is just one big software upgrade.

He loved his pets, skiing, biking, hiking, camping, kayaking, and his cars and computers (sometimes it was hard to tell which he loved more). He ran Classic Tours in a 1954 Jaguar Mark VII, because, of course, Scott wouldn’t dream of giving tours in anything less than a timeless masterpiece.

Scott also believed in making every moment count—whether that meant crossing the country by train one last time or reminding everyone to get their eyes dilated (seriously, do it). His battle with ocular melanoma was fought with his characteristic stubbornness and optimism, always hoping his experience would help others facing the same rare disease.

Scott is survived by his wife of 38 years, Janice McLean; his beloved children, Austin (Dimitri Harrington), Dana, and Stewart Manchee; and his cherished grandchildren, Sierra, Nikolai, Felix, and Natasha. Also surviving are his brothers, Patrick (Peggy) and Michael (Nancy) Manchee, along with his nieces and nephews, Charles, Elliott, Michael, and Matthew Manchee, Erin and Cedar McLean, Jordan Gabrielli and Brianna Nielsen. He leaves behind in-laws, Garrith, Kelly, Claudia, and Carol McLean; and numerous friends who were a very loved and important part of his life. Berry and Knight, his dearest last pets, miss him as much as we all do.
